It might barely look like a craw when dry but when it swims... On my home river we have some big 4-6" crawdads in a rusty reddish brown. I was tying and testing a Barely Legal fly pattern and thought that the articulated fly movement would be perfect for a crawdad imitation. With separated marabou "tails" acting as claws flutter when the fly is allowed to drop imitating the natural movement. Tied with brass dumbell eyes this fly will not only drop through the water column it will ride hook point up resulting in fewer snags as you dredge the depths. Tied on a barbless size 6 front hook and a back shank (see custom orders page for double hook options). This has caught trout, salmon, and bass, anything looking for a big meaty craw.
