I use 2X strong and 2X long saltwater premium 6/0 hooks.
Weedguard allows you to cast to areas normally passed by other fishermen. Weeds,rocks, brush piles and fallen trees are no longer off limits. Fish deep into cover instead of just casting to edges.
I use stainless steel fish shanks for the body and 60# test nylon coated seven strand wire from the front hook and the same for the rear hook.
Each and every tie-in point is epoxied to take the abuse pike and muskies can inflict on a fly.
I use à 8-10 weight rod and heavy bass bug taper line
This fly has been created to address the problem of a fairly easy to cast big bait for big muskies, northern pike, Stripers ànd peacock bass.
The action of this is something to see.
It undulates like a snake because of the multiple jointed connections and the Marabou hair and tail moves even when paused. When fish are lethargic after a cold front or lower water temperatures in the early spring and late fall this lure catches fish with a lot of action with a slower retrieve. When you pause your retrieve, this lure is still moving.
I have been guiding for fish for decades and tying large streamers for my customers. This fly solves the problem of presenting a really large fly that can still be cast.
This fly takes some time to create and the components are top quality. The price reflects this. If you consider the cost of rods, reels, line etc.. the fly is the most important tool that puts fish in the boat.
