As opposed to a standard dry fly, the eye of a jig hook runs parallel to the hook itself and is offset at an angle from the shank. Jigs are weighted flies designed to ride hook-point up and reduce snags.
Ideal for tight-line nymphing, deep runs, and getting flies down quickly in fast water.
